Story
People tell lies with words through their cerebral neocortex. However, the moment before a person does so, the mental reflexes of the limbic system will be apparent. There is a female detective who can see through the lies of suspects by reading their “micro-gestures” which only appear for 0.2 seconds. Her name is Tateoka Ema. Called Enma-sama or the King of Hades, she uses behavioural psychology to solve cases. Any suspect who is targeted by Ema will eventually be exposed and forced to make a full confession. On this day, Ema interrogates Miyade Koji, a top investigator in the First Investigative Division who has solved numerous cases. When she hears that he acted in self defence and shot a criminal involved in a robbery and murder dead during an investigation, she knows that he is lying. While all the police officers show sympathy for Miyade, Ema is the only one who suspects there is more to the case than meets the eye. Miyade who is very familiar with police procedures, tries to outmanoeuvre Ema but Ema has a trick up her sleeve. Then the shocking truth is revealed.

Kuriyama Chiaki as Tateoka Ema
A police sergeant with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigative Division. She is an interrogation specialist who uses behavioural psychology to make suspects confess and boasts a 100% success rate. She can see through the lies of suspects by reading their “micro-gestures”. Interrogations of tough suspects that veteran detectives are at a loss to handle, is not limited to the Criminal Affairs Division’s cases. She boasts that there is not a person whose lies she has not been able to detect, and is called Enma-sama because of this ability. She proclaims herself a “forever 28” who seeks the perfect marriage partner.

A police officer who takes a post the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigative Division. A new detective who becomes Tateoka Ema’s new partner, he has the best arrest rate in the precinct

An assistant inspector with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigative Division who worked his way up the ranks. A compassionate man and the type who acts on his instincts. He is old-fashioned in his investigation approach and has a rivalry with Tateoka Ema.
