Synopsis: Detective Honma Shunsuke (Kamikawa Takaya) of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police’s First Investigative Division was shot and injured in the leg while arresting a robber, and is currently on medical leave. His wife, Chizuko, died in a traffic accident six months ago, and he now lives with their 9-year-old son, Satoshi. One night, Kurisaka Kazuya, the son of Chizuko’s cousin and a bank employee, comes to consult Honma. Kurisaka would like him to find his missing fiancee, Sekine Akiko (Sasaki Nozomi). Akiko is a clerical employee at an office equipment sales company, which Kurisaka’s bank does business with. When he encouraged her to apply for a credit card before their wedding, he discovered that she has been blacklisted by the card company. He also learnt that she was bankrupt five years ago. She had 30 creditors and a total debt of 10 million yen. Akiko disappeared right after Kurisaka questioned her. Honma, who cannot say no to the worried Kurisaka, takes up the investigation. The photograph of Akiko that he borrows from him is that of a beautiful lady with a cold, sad gaze … … Honma visits the office equipment sales company that Akiko had recently worked at. Imai Shiro, the company president tells him that Akiko had the height and beauty of a model although she was modest and reserved. However, the work experience in her cv that Imai had kept is utter nonsense. None of the companies listed as her former workplaces exist. Honma next visits Mizoguchi Goro, the lawyer who had done Akiko’s bankruptcy proceedings five years ago. Mizoguchi candidly shares that Akiko had sunk into debt because of credit card loans, “She was petite and dyed her hair red … …” Honma, who has a bad feeling about this, shows him Akiko’s photograph for confirmation. There is a moment of silence before Mizoguchi says, “This lady isn’t Sekine Akiko. You’re talking about a different person.” The person Kurisaka is engaged to is not Sekine Akiko. Who is the person who is impersonating her and would even go so far as to promise marriage? And if the missing lady is not Akiko, what has happened to the real Akiko?
