Synopsis: Hanamura Noriko (Sawaguchi Yasukuni), an investigator belonging to the Tokyo Station branch of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Railway Investigation Team, discovers a young man who was stabbed to death on the station’s premises. Right before this, a middle-aged man was spotted fleeing the scene by passersby. Noriko finds a note with the address of an exclusive residential neighbourhood in Tokyo written on it. She is about to hand it over to one of the division’s section chiefs (Koga Ken) who has come to conduct the initial investigation. But they are interrupted by a man gently holds her around the shoulders. He is Misawa Takahiko (Katsumuta Masanobu), a detective from the First Investigation Division and a senior from Noriko’s police precinct days. Back then, Misawa had been a supportive senior to Noriko and told her not to shoulder things on her own after she clashed with their boss. However, in their first meeting in a long while, Misawa pockets the note he had snatched from her and does not make any move to report it to the section chief. Noriko is suspicious about Misawa’s attitude which clearly shows that he is hiding something. The victim is identified as a habitual blackmailer called Satake Kazuhiro, and the address written on the note turns out to be the residence of Kusunoki Kozo (Hasegawa Hatsunori), the CEO of a major mail order company. Kusunoki is a capable man who rapidly grew the company in one generation but has a bad reputation ranging from bribery to workplace bullying. Noriko accompanies Misawa for Kusunoki’s questioning. At first, Kusunoki is tight lipped but he finally confesses the truth at his wife’s urging (Uchida Chika). Before the incident, Satake had gone into Kusunoki’s house with a threatening letter warning Kusunoki to prepare 1 billion yen and refrain from alerting the police if he did not want his daughter to be killed. The person seen escaping from Tokyo Station was Kusunoki’s secretary (Yamamoto Ryuji). He had pursued Satake on Kusunoki’s orders but lost sight of him at the station and only encountered the dead body after searching everywhere. According to Kusunoki, his daughter Kaori (Takeda Rena) had been working at his company as the manager of the PR department. But lately she had defied him. Not only did she not have any intention of breaking up with a photographer whom Kusunoki did not approve of, she had said she was fine even after she was told about the threat. She also insisted that the PR event for the Chichibu steam locomotive tour which she was hosting would go on the next day. Noriko and Misawa pretend to be a couple and participate in the event in order to guard Kaori. However, on the day itself, they detect a shady man on their trail. And then, Kaori gets abducted by someone in a split instant. Even after that, other incidents continue to take place.
