Drama Digest #3 More Top Earners & Filming on Mt Fuji

Actresses

More top drama earners revealed … I finally got my hands on the Flash list of top
earning drama actresses and the potential TV ratings they can draw. Hit dramas like Amachan and Hanzawa Naoki have brought about quite a bit of changes to the rankings since the previous list issued at the start of the year but unlike the list of top actors there appears to be a mismatch between acting chops and pay. I don’t understand why the talented Mitsushima Hikari earns so much less compared to her peers and why anyone would want to watch Dan Mitsui try to act after she butchered her role in Hanzawa Naoki or how she even got cast in the first place. And where’s Ono Machiko?

1. Yonekura Ryoko (13.5%) (3 million yen/hr)
2. Anne (13.0%) (1.1 million yen/hr)
3. Ayase Haruka (12.7%) (2.5 million yen/hr)
4. Ueto Aya (12.5%) (2 million yen/hr)
5. Mitsushima Hikari (12.3%) (1.5 million yen/hr)
6. Kanno Miho (12.0%) (2 million yen/hr)
7. Aragaki Yui (11.8%) (1.2 million yen/hr)
8. Nounen Rena (11.4%) (1.2 million yen/hr)
9. Koizumi Kyoko (11.1%) (3 million yen/hr)
10. Shibasaki Kou (10.9%) (1.6 million yen/hr)
11. Dan Mitsu (10.6%) (0.7 million yen/hr)
12. Horikita Maki (10.4%) (1.6 million yen/hr)
13. Nagasawa Masami (10.2%) (1.4 million yen/hr)
14. Yoshitaka Yuriko (10.0%) (1.4 million yen/hr)
15. Honda Tsubasa (9.8%) (0.6 million yen/hr)
*(US$1 = 102.46 yen)

Harsh filming for WOWOW’s Kanata no KoKanata no Ko, which is airing right now, was the first drama filmed on Mt Fuji since the mountain was registered as a World Heritage Site. It is set in the most demanding and longest route up to the summit, the Gotemba trail. The cast had to climb up and down the mountain each day to get from the mountain lodge where they were staying to the set. They also experienced very strong winds that disrupted filming many times. Although the filming took place at the start of September when the weather should have been good, the typhoons came. Director Omori Tatsushi joked that it was actor Nagase Masatoshi who brought the typhoons with him. Actor Iura Arata good-naturedly said he slowly started to enjoy climbing Mt Fuji even though he wondered what sort of ascetic training this was. The cinematography is outstanding. I have high hopes for this drama.

Chance to dispel bad images? … Known as “Oscar’s three girls”, actresses Takei Emi, Kutsuna Shiori and Goriki Ayame will be acting this winter season. Their three dramas Senryokugai Sousakan, Nezumi, Edo o Hashiru, and Watashi no Kiraina Tantei are all of the mystery genre with cases solved by a male-female duo. They seem to have garnered the reputations of actresses being pushed hard by their agency Oscar Promotion because of the substantial media exposure they get in addition to the poor viewership ratings of their dramas. The opinion is that for the mystery genre, the focus will often be on assessing the script. Because of that, it will be hard for them to bear the brunt of criticism, and by this weird reasoning 2014 might finally present a chance for them to fix their bad reputations.

Heh, I think Omori Tatsushi must worship at the feet of Werner Herzog. The trailer for this dorama looks stunning.

tis a shame. mitsushima hikari should be getting paid the highest there, shes a great actress. too bad theres a number of bad actresses that get paid high. but ryoko yonekura does bring in the ratings even though shes a bad actress. and i think ono is not there since she only realy became popular recently.
