Gonzo – Episode 6 Synopsis

Episode 6: Undercover investigation

GonzoEp6

There’s an organisation run by a dubious man. Tsuru, who received the information from Ayano and two others, goes to probe Okabayashi Kazuma, the president of Nihon Aozora Club. Okabayashi is said to do volunteer activities and conduct various study sessions. Taking a glance at him from afar, Tsuru is shaken. The way he drags his right foot as he walks is identical to that of the man who had shot herself and Monami.

Hearing the information from Tsuru, the special investigation task force immediately investigates Okabayashi’s background. He is the son of a former important Diet lawmaker and is currently unemployed.

After Ayano, Otobe and Nakamura helped in a clean up activity, they hung around Okabayashi, who had many interesting things to talk about, and were drawn to him. However, they started questioning whether the club was a religious sect when people were denied entry to Okabayashi’s house and what he said leaned towards ideology.

At that moment, Okabayashi had let Otobe, the only member he has acknowledged, see his weapons.

If those weapons are real, they can arrest Okabayashi for violating the gun control law. But how do they verify that it is real? Kuroki appeals to Sakuma to let him go undercover but is rejected. Instead, he intends to let Hibino get close to Okabayashi.

But Kuroki approaches Okabayashi with Otobe’s introduction. He successfully gets into Okabayashi’s house and hits it off with him.

Sakuma displays anger at Kuroki’s way of doing things but as Kuroki says, they don’t know what Okabayashi will pull off next.

The following day, Kuroki goes to Okabayashi’s residence equipped with a small camera. When Okabayashi tells him of his failed suicide attempt, he confesses to having had the same experience. “You’re like me,” Okabayashi remarks and Kuroki gains his complete trust. Then Okabayashi takes him down to the basement where his weapons are stored and Kuroki verifies that they are real. He also finds an Ikazuchi, which is thought to be the murder weapon, among them.

There’s no doubt that Okabayashi was the gunman who killed Monami. The task force plans to use Kuroki as a decoy and capture Okabayashi in one sweep.

Just before it is time for Kuroki to enter Okabayashi’s house, Sakuma admits to having dated Risa. He says Kuroki is welcome to date her because they’re no longer in a relationship. Those cryptic words greatly unsettle Kuroki.

“You’re no longer interested in dating women are you, since that happened.” Kuroki confronts Sakuma with a fiendish expression on his face. Tsuru, who is sitting nearby watching them, feels a sense of unease.

Suppressing his emotions, Kuroki enters Okabayashi’s house but why does Okabayashi know that Kuroki would be infiltrating? He points a shot gun at Kuroki. Kuroki takes out his gun and orders Okabayashi to put down his weapon but the emotions set off by Sakuma’s words rear its head again. The figures of a mysterious doll, a young girl and then a woman flashes one after another in his mind, and Kuroki totally loses himself. He is also completely unable to resist Okabayashi, who is advancing on him with his shotgun in hand. Tsuru and Kishi give cries of irritation when Sakuma doesn’t give the order for the police to charge in.

Before long, the sound of a gunshot resounds from Okabayashi’s residence …
