Synopsis: In an unexpected turn of events, detective Kaga Kyoichiro (Abe Hiroshi) of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigative Division faces the prospect of going to watch the ballet Swan Lake. However, his disinterest is compounded by his work all through the night and he ends up dozing off during the performance. When Kaga rouses halfway into the performance, Asaoka Mio (Ishihara Satomi) who plays the black swan catches his eye. He is completely mesmerised by her talent … … Then one day, a man is murdered at the office of Takayanagi Ballet Company, the famous ballet troupe which staged the Swan Lake performance. He was hit on the back of the head with a blunt object. Saito Haruko (Kinami Haruka), a ballerina present at the scene, is identified as a suspect and questioned, but she asserts that it was in self-defence to protect herself from a suspicious trespasser. The victim Kazama Toshiyuki (Uchida Asahi) and Haruko are not acquainted, and the prima ballerina Takayanagi Akiko (Otozuki Kei) as well as the ballet troupe do not question Haruko’s statement. Detective Ota Daisaku (Emoto Akira) of Shakujii Kita Police Precinct is the first person to attend to the case. He loathes detectives from the First Investigative Division and initially gives Kaga, who pokes his nose excessively into the case, the cold shoulder, but is gradually impressed by Kaga’s approach to the investigation and observations. Kaga slowly warms to the investigation and the two of them proceed as partners in between Ota’s sarcasm and remonstrance. As the investigation progresses, several discrepancies arise. While the case is in a disarray, Takayanagi Ballet Company’s director Kajita Yasunari (Hira Takehiro) is poisoned to death during a dress costume rehersal for the Sleeping Beauty. Is there a connection between this and the first case? Right after Kajita’s murder, Morii Yasuko (Otani Eiko) commits suicide. She is Mio’s senior and had fought with Akiko for the top spot. However, Kajita constantly demanded perfection and she was dropped because she did not meet his standard. Kaga makes the acquaintance of Mio who is a childhood friend of Haruko. He is drawn to her diligence in lessons and her charm. On the other hand, Mio starts to get entangled in the vortex of the ballet troupe’s complicated human relationships … …
