Synopsis: Takechiyo, later Ieyasu, was born to Matsudaira Hirotada, the lord of Okazaki Castle in poor and small Mikawa Province. He lost his father in the chaos of the war, and was also separated from his mother. At one time while Takechiyo (Matsumoto Jun) was being sent as a hostage to the Imagawas, he was seized and abducted by the Odas. As a youth who did not even know what the next day would hold for him, he had a dramatic encounter with Oda Nobunaga (Okada Junichi) and was taught that he could change the world with his own might. He was also reunited with old retainers that served his father and learned of their lingering desire to restore the Matsudaira clan (later Tokugawa clan). The Battle of Okehazama threw the Imagawas into tumult when their leader Yoshimoto (Nomura Mansai) was killed in battle, and he succeeded in taking back his castle in Mikawa Province. However, this would also be the start of hardships and crises. Ieyasu was troubled by the Jodo Shinshu Buddhist uprising and threatened by the strongest warlord Takeda Shingen (Abe Hiroshi) who drove the Tokugawa army to the brink of a crushing defeat at the Battle of Mikatagahara. Takeda kept attacking and tried to undermine the relationship between the vassals and family. Despite feeling vexed about his weaknesses, Ieyasu turned this loss to his advantage. He deepened ties with his vassals and created a sense of unity. However, Nobunaga’s death in the Honnoji Incident drove Ieyasu into a corner. Will the wars come to an end and is there a future for this country?
