However, he wants a job involved in regional revitalisation and makes a u-turn. Dreaming of a spectacular job that can change the place, Shindo returns to his hometown of Takasaki in Gunma Prefecture. But he gets assigned to the city hall’s agriculture and forestry division, and ends up losing his bearings and going nowhere as he registers the gap between his aspiration and inexperience in his actual work. In addition, he gets criticised by Nitta Ryoko (Matsumura Sayuri), a new local agricultural farmer who is his age, for not being able to see the reality of farming. This gets Shindo depressed. The farming population in the country has dropped by almost half in the last 15 years and there have been various issues such as succession problems and imported vegetables. But in the midst of this, there have also been a number of changes. Young leaders have emerged and technology has been introduced in farming. As Shindo comes in touch with the farmers, he begins to realise how interesting farming is. He becomes an ally of the farmers and also starts to change their perspectives.
