Even though Ritsuka had been absorbed in music, he has forgotten the passion that he had when he first started playing the guitar. On what starts out looking like a dull day, Ritsuka heads to a staircase landing leading to the rooftop – his regular place in school which no one intrudes. He happens to encounter Sato Mafuyu (Sanari), who is holding a Gibson guitar with broken strings. When Ritsuka grudgingly fixes the strings, he is asked by Mafuyu to teach him to play the guitar. Ritsuka is initially reluctant to do so. But he is hounded by a persistent Mafuyu and takes him to the band’s practice session. After hearing Mafuyu’s clear singing voice, he is stunned and invites him to join the band. Mafuyu is reticent at first until a meeting with a childhood friend Kashima Hiiragi (Okuno So) spurs him to take up Ritsuka’s offer. The distance between the two of them begins to change.
