Synopsis: In 1984, two men and a woman disappeared in Saitama Prefecture. When Fujinami Shiori (Mizuno Miki) and other detectives at Saitama Prefectural Police’s Kumagaya Chuo Police Precinct investigate the cases, they determine that these three missing persons had trouble with a man named Sekine Gen (Tsurumi Shingo). Sekine is the owner of a pet shop called African Kennel. He breeds and sells imported dogs and there are also rumours that he made a lot of money through fraudulent business methods. Despite a thorough search, the detectives are unable to locate the three people as well as obtain evidence of Sekine’s guilt, putting an end to the investigation. Fast forward to April 1993, and yet another person involved with Sekine disappears. Shiori is also put in charge of the case this time. The missing person is a 39-year-old man who loves dogs. He had a financial dispute with Sekine over his business of imported dogs. Shiori and her colleagues investigate Sekine, his ex-wife Kazama Hiroko (Uchiyama Rina) and another fellow breeder Nakaoka Yosuke (Uchida Asahi). The police arrest Sekine and Hiroko because of the breeder’s confession. However, just when it seems that the case has been solved, the testimonies of Sekine and Hiroko are completely at odds with the breeder’s testimony. Who is telling the truth?
