Synopsis: A dead man is discovered by Lake Tama in the outskirts of Tokyo. He is identified as Hashimoto Keiichi (Yamagami Kenji), the CEO of the listed company Hashimoto Trading, which filed a missing person’s report. The cause of death is blood loss due to a fractured skull because he was struck in the back of his head by a blunt object. According to Ito Yoshio (Asaka Kodai), the employee who came to identify him, Hashimoto had said he was in Tamba Sasayama in Hyogo Prefecture in his last phone call. This is a significant distance from where his body was found, raising the possibility that he was dumped in another place after he was killed. When Inspector Okabe Kazuo (Takahashi Katsunori), and his team – Kamiya Kosuke (Sano Shiro), Matsuoka Chiaki (Nakamura Shizuka) and Sato Shun (Suzuki Takayuki) – are having a meeting about this case, the cleaner Nakatani Masako (Hamada Mari) slips in to join them. Meanwhile, Sakaguchi Ryutaro (Taguchi Hiromasa) who also belongs to Team Okabe, is undergoing tests at a hospital because of gastric pains. Although he gets diagnosed with a bad ulcer, he heads determinedly to Hashimoto’s residence with Matsuoka. Hashimoto’s daughter Chiaki (Shida Mirai), who cannot walk and relies on a wheelchair, lives there with the family’s long-time housekeeper Kanai Kimie (Okamoto Rei). Although her father was murdered, Chiaki shows barely any reaction. Matsuoka wonders why. Kanai says Hashimoto and Chiaki did not get along. Matsuoka reports to Okabe about the possibility that Chiaki killed her father for insurance money because Hashimoto had taken a 200 million yen insurance. While questioning people, they find out that Hashimoto privately traded cryptocurrency apart from managing his company. Then a piece of paper with cryptic words and numbers is extracted from the mouth of his dead body … … As Team Okabe investigates, they learn that Hashimoto made a large cash withdrawal on the morning of his death. When they ask Ito about this, Ito is shaken. But he reveals that Hashimoto was in a barely legal side business. From an eyewitness report that Hashimoto and a man whom he appeared to have traded with, met at a car park, Team Okabe obtain security camera footage. Their investigation leads them to a coffee shop where Hashimoto had a discussion about high school baseball with a man. They find out that Hashimoto had lived in Nagano Prefecture for baseball during high school days and Okabe quickly requests the assistance of Takemura Iwao (Terawaki Yasufumi) from the Negano Prefectural Police. Then Chiaki begins to trace her late father’s movements.
