Story
Haraguchi Motoko works as a temporary employee at the Setagaya Kita branch of Tohrin Bank. She is painfully aware of how different her own life is compared to customers who come and deposit large sums of money, depositors who put money into illegal accounts under other people’s names or the daughter of a major client who pulled strings to join the bank. She spends each day like this – a temporary employee by day and a hostess at Shokudai, a club in Ginza by night. This is all for the sake of repaying the debt that her mother left behind. Motoko is attractive and has an air of innocence which soon catches the attention of an important customer Narabayashi Kenji, the director of Narabayashi Clinic. One day, Motoko is taken out for golf with Narabayashi by the proprietress of the club. She meets Hashida Tsuneo, the chairman of a large cram school, and Yasujima Tomio, the secretary of a lawmaker of the House of Representatives. Little do they know that this encounter will greatly change their lives later on. At this point, talk of a lay-off of temporary employees comes up at the bank just as Motoko pays off the debt. This spurs her to put a plan that she had been secretly developing into motion. She embezzles 180 million yen from the bank and opens her own club called Carnet in Ginza with a black notebook containing an illegal list of that amount of money and the accounts opened under other people’s names as her shield. Without a backer, she survives in the night scene as a young proprietress through sheer ambition, and eventually rises to become the queen of the night.

Takei Emi as Haraguchi Motoko
After her father’s death, her mother was saddled with his debts. Shw has been working diligently as a temporary employee at the Setagaya Kita branch of Tohrin Bank but is keenly aware of how different her reality is from that of customers who come and deposit large sums of money and depositors who put money into illegal accounts under other people’s names. She also works at Shokudai, a Ginza club in order to repay the debts. She eventually pays it off while holding two jobs. At this point, talk of a lay-off of temporary employees comes up at the bank. This makes her decide to put a plan that she had been secretly developing into motion. And then she opens the club Carnet in a prime Ginza location.
Eguchi Yosuke as Yasujima Tomio
The secretary of a House of Representative lawmaker. In order to make his dream of becoming a politician a reality, he is the contact person for the disposal of state-owned land, place people in university or jobs, arranges rendezvous with the mistress and even does”dirty work” such as hushing up scandals. This is how he established his present position. He had thought of women as tools to use but his values start to crumble following his meeting with Haraguchi Motoko.
Naka Riisa as Yamada Namiko
A temporary employee at the Setagaya Kita branch of Tohrin Bank just like Haraguchi Motoko. She loses her job but becomes a hostess at the invitation of Motoko and learns the techniques to wrap men around her finger. She completely changes. She immediately grows into a popular hostess and soon becomes Motoko’s rival.

The assistant general manager of the Setagaya Kita branch of Tohrin Bank where Haraguchi Motoko works.
Takashima Masanobu as Hashida Tsuneo
The chairman of the large cram school. He works behind the scenes between parents who want their sons to become doctors and deposits the huge profit made from backdoor admissions into an account under someone’s name.
Maya Miki as Iwamura Eiko
The proprietress of the club Shokudai where Haraguchi Motoko worked when she first set foot into the night life. She is an old-fashioned hostess who observes Ginza’s rules and code of conduct.
Okuda Eiji as Narabayashi Kenji
The director of Narabayashi Clinic. He worked hard and became a doctor, and steadily saved money for bribes. He expanded his small dermatology clinic into a hospital together with Nakaoka Ichiko but the construction of a new hospital which has been his long-awaited dream is one step short of beginning of his downfall.
Ito Shiro as Hasegawa Shoji
A fixer in political circles. He is a father figure to Yasujima Tomio and also his backer. He is also the middleman for the planned site for the construction of Narabayashi Kenji’s new hospital.
