Synopsis: Okano Mariko (Matsushita Nao), an office lady, is bewildered when her boyfriend Nagata Junichi (Ichihara Hayato) sets off on a trip to a country in a remote region all of a sudden. Junichi, who had applied to be an international volunteer, got a position to teach children in a developing country and will not come back for the next two years. He did not discuss this important matter with her or his family. Mariko does not know Junichi’s reasons and she is not able to get through to him on his phone. All she can do is to write about her anxiety in a letter addressed to him. The next morning, the charred body of a woman is discovered in a timber warehouse. Detective Kameyama Ryuzo (Kaga Takeshi) visits the scene and is reminded of a deadly arson case in this same warehouse 15 years ago. 15 years ago, Mariko (Nishihata Reika) who was a junior high school student at that time and a classmate Oshima Kazuki (Shinoda Ryo) were trapped inside the burning warehouse. Mariko was saved by Junichi (Fukuyama Kohei), but Kazuki died. Because the warehouse was bolted from the outside, the case was investigated as arson and their classmate Kubota Yasutaka (Imai Yuki) was suspected. However, he committed suicide the next day. The investigation was closed and the truth was never found. As the detective in charge, Kameyama was very frustrated by this conclusion. The dead woman turns out to be Yasutaka’s mother Ayako (Osawa Itsumi). Mariko is shocked by this news. Kameyama visits her and asks if she remembers. Mariko had actually lost her memories of the incident right after it happened due to shock and she still does not recall anything. Several days later, the parents of the children involved in that incident 15 years ago are all present at Ayako’s funeral service. Kazuki’s mother Yuri (Takigawa Yumi) blames Mariko for not trying to regain her memories and wonders aloud if remembering her son would be a curse. Then Mariko receives a letter from Junichi. He had written a confession that Mariko did not know about in it and unease gradually overwhelms her. Mariko’s memories of 15 years ago start to come back in fragments … …
