Synopsis: Ichinose Aiko (Kishimoto Kayoko), a lawmaker of the House of Representatives, is kissing at a street corner in Kanazawa City when she suddenly has a look of pain on her face and collapses. As her male companion runs away in a hurry, talented freelance surgeon Daimon Michiko (Yonekura Ryoko), who happened to be present at the scene, sees that Aiko is in a critical condition. Michiko immediately gets into the ambulance with Aiko and heads to Kurosu Medical Centre, Japan’s first drug development hub which has been designated a “modern medical zone” by the country. It has brushed aside attempts to stop making medical therapy through the administration of new drugs a priority and save patients lives with surgery. A man is observing Michiko over the monitor. He is the hospital director of Kurosu Medical Centre, Kurosu Kantaro (Beat Takeshi). Kurosu intends to hire Michiko for her surgical skills and promptly negotiates with Kanbara Akira (Kishibe Ittoku), who heads Good Doctors Agency which Michiko belongs to. However, Michiko obstinately refuses to be sent there. This is because the man who left a suffering Aiko and ran away is none other than Kurosu. In the end, Michiko gets talked into working at Kurosu Medical Centre by Kanbara. On her first day at work, she receives a cold reception from the physicians who look down on surgeons. Meanwhile, Kurosu asks her to do surgery for a patient. National figure skater Himura Kojiro has been transferred from the National Medical Centre’s Kanazawa branch in absolute secrecy. He is suffering from a complicated chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension and surgery is deemed impossible. But Michiko declares, “I’ll do a 100% perfect surgery” and persuades an anxious Himuro. She builds up her energy for the coming surgery so that she can save his life no matter what it takes. However, Kurosu, who seeks to be at the top of the Department of Internal Medicine, sets out an outrageous condition to Michiko. Furthermore, at that point, Michiko is plunged into a crisis in which she is robbed of her “greatest weapon as a surgeon” and she utters the words, “I’ll fail”. These are unlikely words for Michiko who has strived to be a surgeon who does not fail. And of all things, it was Kurosu who worked behind the scene to trigger this crisis … …
