Hamasaki Densuke, a newly-hired employee who has joined the big construction company Suzuki Construction, is assigned to the Third Sales Division led by Sasaki Kazuo. The construction industry is enjoying a boom as the country prepares for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Hama-chan has loved fishing since childhood. It is not that he has no motivation to work, but because he tends to bring his feelings about fishing that constantly angers his boss Sasaki. There is also Asamoto Shinichitaro, the eternal deputy of the division, who is the complete opposite of Hama-chan and hates big game fishing. One day, Hama-chan invites an exhausted elderly man at a dry river bed to go fishing for a diversion and gives his contact information. That night, he meets Kobayashi Michiko again at his regular diner which serves set meals after they had quarreled on the streets several days ago. Hama-chan is moved by the delicious food that Michiko prepared when he receives a call on his mobile phone. The man from the daytime has called to accept his invitation to go fishing. Hama-chan is completely ignorant of the fact that this man called Su-san is Suzuki Ichinosuke, the president of his company, as they go out fishing … … Then Suzuki learns that Hama-chan is an employee of Suzuki Construction and consults a friend about this peculiar friendship. After brooding over his friend’s words that it will break up someday, Suzuki declares to Hama-chan that he is giving up fishing. They get into a big argument and end up parting ways … …

Hamada Gaku as Hamasaki Densuke
Nicknamed Hama-chan, he is a new employee of Suzuki Construction’s Third Sales Division. He lives life at his own pace and is a positive person. He has loved big game fishing since his childhood and is more passionate about fishing that career advancement. Although he eventually produces good results after repeated failure, few notice these accomplishments and he is treated as an incompetent employee within the company.

Hirose Alice as Kobayashi Michiko
An employee of ‘Kazusaya’, the diner that Hamasaki Densuke frequents. She has a cheerful and outgoing personality. A native of Akita, she would unintentionally speak in her dialect when she gets excited. Her cooking skills are first rate. She is always at the mercy of Hama-chan’s enthusiasm for fishing.

Fukikoshi Mitsuru as Sasaki Kazuo
The head of Suzuki Construction’s Third Sales Division and Hamasaki Densuke’s boss. He is the traditional middle management type who panders to those in power comes down hard on those of lower rank. He is always irritated with Hama-chan who is absorbed in fishing more than his work and has stomach problems.

Nishida Toshiyuki as Suzuki Ichinosuke
The founder and president of Suzuki Construction, the big construction company that Hamasaki Densuke works for. He makes Hama-chan’s acquaintance through an unexpected turn of events. He and Hama-chan develop a deep friendship since the invitation to go fishing. He calls him Hama-chan and looks up to him as his fishing teacher.
