Synopsis: “There’s nothing in my life … …” Tachikawa Hiroyuki (Matsuda Shota) grumbles. Tachikawa, who lives in Tokyo, is tired of demanding quotas as well as human relationships and ends up quitting his job. Furthermore, his girlfriend, Takanashi Chieko (Nakamura Eriko), who has been cohabiting with him, gets fed up and throws him out. Around that time, Tachikawa calls on a classmate from elementary school days and pays a visit to the small port town of Tsuyazaki in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture. He encounters a cheerful, talkative old lady, Hanada Fukuko (Miyamoto Nobuko), there. Endearing himself to Fukuko, Tachikawa is brought around to various places of her memories such as the harbour, tidal flat and mountains. He listens to stories of past romance and hardships. Her life was full of ups and downs. Even though these are painful memories, Fukuko laughs them off as a joke. Then Tachikawa asks himself through the tears and laughter, “What is living? Why does Fukuko-san look happy? Where do I belong?” The answers are not easy. However, he realises that she has given him positivity somewhere along the line. And he decides to gift her with a special present.
