It is Yamaori Mikio’s daily routine to look out the train window at the sea on his way to work. But on this day, he happens to stand on the opposite side because the straps have all been taken. The scenery is different from usual. All he sees are houses. And then he spots a brightly coloured green beach dress being dried at an apartment and cannot hide his surprise. It looks just like the dress that his ex-wife Makoto had treasured. Makoto did not get along well with his mother Sumiko and their marriage ended in divorce four years ago. Mikio thinks that if he had not run away at that time and had helped her … … From that point on, it become his daily routine to stand on the side facing the mountains, and not the sea to look for his ex-wife from the train window. But he does not see her. Sometime later, he finally catches sight of her and makes a decision.

Takuma Takayuki as Yamaori Mikio
A divorced engineer who works for an electric appliance manufacturer. His hobby is surfing. He does not go out to sea as much now, but he loves to look out at the sea from the train window when he goes to work. He purchased a detached house in the suburbs of Chiba, and lived there with his mother, who raised him by herself, and his wife Makoto. He and Makoto had met through surfing, but she did not get along with his mother and suddenly left home four years ago. He has been living with his mother since then.

Okunuki Kaoru as Yamaori Makoto
Yamaori Mikio’s ex-wife. She started to live together with her mother-in-law Sumiko after marrying Mikio. But Sumiko would badger her about having a grandchild soon and they did not get on well even on other things. Four years ago, she suddenly left home. After her divorce from Mikio, she married another man.

Izumi Pinko as Yamaori Sumiko
Yamaori Mikio’s mother. She assumes that if she is not around, nothing can be done. Her son and his wife divorced because she interfered in nearly every aspect of their lives. Nevertheless, she is still a naggy, critical woman who is excessive with her love.

Tokunaga Eri as Fukumoto Aya
She works part-time at a beachside hut which Yamaori Mikio frequents. The two of them, who are years apart in age, have been tentatively dating but are troubled about where this is going to lead.
