Synopsis: Iwadate Shuichi (Yoshida Eisaku) is a streetcar driver in Hakodate City, Hokkaido. He lives with his wife Mizue (Okunuki Kaoru). Iwadate and Mizue, who have been married for close to 20 years, have “a past around a child”. However, the couple have avoided any mention of this subject and spent long years as a family of two. Meanwhile, 21-year-old university student Watanabe Sachi (Minamisawa Nao) is holding the baby she has just given birth to at a Hakodate maternity hospital, and does not know what to do. The baby’s father is a fellow university student Shimazaki Takumi (Watanabe Daichi) who aspires to be a musician. Shimazaki parts with Sachi, saying that he will find money for the baby’s delivery but does not return even when the child is born. On the night of Christmas eve, a grimly determined Sachi carries her baby and runs out of the hospital. The driver of the streetcar she hops on to happens to be Iwadate. Seeing Sachi alight at the terminal, Iwadate inspects the interior of the streetcar. He finds a baby that has been left behind. While searching for the mother who abandoned the baby, the hearts of this couple and a past that had sealed off come alive … …
