The president of Japan Geothermal Development and son of a politician, he is popular with his employees. The company has gone bankrupt but he continues to have great hopes for the future of geothermal energy.

A shrewd politician who is a member of the ruling Democratic Liberal Party. He has designs on the concessions for geothermal development. Closely bound to Ando Koji by the past, he seeks to crush Japan Geothermal Development and tries to use the journalist Kuwata Yoko to aid him.
Tsuda Kanji as Machida Kenichi
Managing Director, Goldberg Capital Japan. Nogami Taeko’s superior. He has acquired many companies through ruthless methods and now regards Japan Geothermal Development’s research as his trump card in transforming the geothermal energy business into the next big thing.
Komoto Masahiro as Tamada Hiro
A senior researcher at Japan Geothermal Development’s Geothermal Electric Power Generation Research Centre who is engaged in the research of hot dry rock with the head of research, Omuro Kojiro. He has a son with a weak constitution.
Shaku Yumiko as Kuwata Yoko
A journalist with the weekly magazine, Shukan Wide, and politician Ryuzaki Daisuke’s lover. She has been good friends with Nogami Taeko since school days but feels inferior to the successful Taeko.
Hakamada Yoshihiko as Okita Norio
Nogami Taeko’s ex-boss at Goldberg Capital Japan. He was trusted by his subordinates but was suddenly made to leave the company by Machida Kenichi.
Watanabe Ikkei as Okuzumi Junya
The president of Earth Power, a geothermal energy company backed by the politician Ryuzaki Daisuke. He and Ryuzaki have formed an alliance.
Nagatsuka Kyozo as Omuro Kojiro
The head of Japan Geothermal Development’s Geothermal Electric Power Generation Research Centre who devotes all his energy to the research of power generation from hot dry rock which he anticipates will produce a great amount of electricity. He is put off by Nogami Taeko’s profits first philosophy.
Osugi Ren as Udagawa Mitsuhiko
A professor at the Japan Science and Technology University’s graduate school. A proponent of nuclear energy, he is at odds with Omuro Kojiro. Even after the earthquake in the Tohoku region, he remains firm in his belief about the promotion of nuclear energy.
