Synopsis: Detective Saginuma Yuya (Shibata Kyohei) belongs to the support section of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police’s First Investigative Division. It is a department which is a backup for the First Investigative Division, supporting short-handed investigation task forces and carrying out investigations into unsolved cases. Detective Miyano Hiroyuki (Terajima Susumu) of the Kanagawa Prefectural Police’s Yokohama Precinct calls up Saginuma for the first time in a long while about the investigation of a certain case. The two of them had collaborated twice before, and their relationship has been one of standing up to the dark side of the police organisation. Three days earlier, a passenger car had plowed into a wall at Yokohama Pier and exploded. The driver, Yuasa Keizaburo (Satoi Kenta) the general affairs manager of Towa Holdings, was burnt to death. According to Miyano, the back of the head was marked by blows and despite a charred gun found among the victim’s personal belongings, the Kanagawa Prefectural Police concluded that it was an accident in which he lost control of the car. The gun found at the scene is the New Nambu model which the Japanese police use. Although a civilian died with a police issued gun in his possession, the prefectural police pretend that the situation does not exist. Miyano contends that there is more to this case. A check reveals that Takamura Naotaka (Nadaka Tatsuo), the president of Towa Holdings, had formerly been a career detective with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police. He had resigned as the head of the Second Investigative Division following the passing of the younger brother of the the previous president and appears to have taken up the post of president 10 years ago. In the midst of this, the illicit relationship between Towa Holdings and the police involving secondhand guns comes to light! Chances are that Yuasa had been murdered to silence him. However, pressure is placed on Suginuma and Miyano by the Public Safety Department at this juncture … ….
