Synopsis: Uemura Hana (Ashida Mana) lives with her mother Yoko (Natsukawa Yui) and three older siblings. Her parents divorced when she was still too young to understand anything. Yoko works hard and has a cheerful personality but Hana assumes from her erratic behaviour that her mother possibly hates her and that makes her sad. The person who watches over her closely is her grandmother Waka (Iwashita Shima) who lives next door. One day when she is in the lower grade of elementary school, her grandfather Shunji (Kobayashi Nenji) passes away and the whole household is shaken. Yoko orders Hana to stay with a depressed Waka and she begins living there. She is told by her grandmother that there is a toilet god. Although Hana dislikes cleaning the toilet, she takes the initiative to do so after she hears that she will become a pretty girl if she polishes the toilet. Time passes and before long, Hana becomes a high school student (Kitano Kii) and also experiences her first love. As Hana’s world expands and she gets absorbed in music, she gradually begins to spend less time with her grandmother … …
