Story
Matsudaira Matsuko, who works at the Nishi Izu tax office, receives an appointment letter from the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau’s Tax Investigation Department. At that moment, the tax bureau is monitoring Kurata Jun, the proprietor of a Roppongi host club called ‘Finale’, on suspicion of evading 130 million yen in income taxes. Matsuko also has her eye on ‘Finale’, and she gets close to the club’s number one host, Aikawa Ryuji. Meanwhile, a compulsory inspection of the different places related to Kurata including ‘Finale’ is finally conducted, and the full details of his tax evasion becomes clear with the discovery of hidden account ledgers recorded in a memory stick. Several days later, Matsuko visits Ryuji who has parted ways with Kurata and set up his own club. Seeing the lavish interior, Matsuko becomes suspicious of his source of financing. The results of the Tax Investigation Department’s operations reveal that Ryuji had not declared 1 billion yen, which is three-years worth of forex gains.

Yonekura Ryoko as Matsudaira Matsuko
An investigator with Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau’s Eighteenth Tax Investigation Section, Information Branch. Nickname: Nasake. She carries out secret surveillance on people suspected of huge and serious tax evasion, and works hard everyday to get something on these tax evaders. She was suddenly selected from the Nishi Izu Tax Office to work at the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau, but she does not fit in. At times, her aggressive and bold investigations are seemingly reckless, and upset both the suspects as well as members of her organisation. When she was young, she had brought delinquent groups together and has strong bonds with her former associates. The real reason why Matsuko chose to be a tax inspector is not clear.
Yanagiba Toshiro as Nitta Shinjiro
The head of the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau’s Tax Investigation Department. Nickname: Ichiban. An up-and-coming person among the group of career elites. He will eventually return to the Finance Ministry, and is a man who has his sights on the vice-ministerial post. He was the person responsible for poaching Matsudaira Matsuko from the Nishi Izu Tax Office, but their relationship is a mystery. He believes that national taxes are for the running of the country.
Tsukamoto Takashi as Miki Kosuke
An investigator with the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau’s Eighteenth Tax Investigation Section, Information Branch. He is paired with Matsudaira Matsuko and becomes attracted to her despite always being at her beck and call.
Iijima Naoko as Inukai Kazumi
Assistant Chief of the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau’s Eighteenth Tax Investigation Section, Information Branch. Nickname: Nushi. Matsudaira Matsuko’s superior and is of her generation. She has exposed many cases of huge tax evasions. The cool and rational sort, she is constantly at odds with Matsuko who acts on instincts.
Seto Koji as Akagawa Tomoya
Matsudaira Matsuko’s follower from her days as a delinquent. He now runs a cleaning business, but will ignore his work to help Matsuko in her investigations if she requests.
Katsumura Masanobu as Hino Toshiya
Overall Assistant Chief of the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau’s Thirty Seventh Tax Investigation Section, Implementation Branch. Because he is the type who immediately gets heated up when provoked, he cannot settle into his work, and recklessly picks quarrels with Nasake’s team members.
Izumiya Shigeru as Sone Rokusuke
Director-General of the Tokyo Regional Taxation Bureau’s Eighteenth Tax Investigation Section. Matsudaira Matsuko’s superior. He has a fierce look bus is a compassionate family man who loves his wife. He dreams of retiring without any complications and leading a peaceful life as a tax accountant, but that seems to be derailed with the appearance of Matsuko and makes him troubled.
Takeda Tetsuya as Tetsuko
The female proprietress of the transvestite bar, ‘Tetsuko’s Room’. An informant with a wide circle of acquaintances, but their real identities are a mystery. She is Matsudaira Matsuko’s emotional support, and the only partner with whom Matsuko can be frank with. Her philosophy is that “There are two types of money. Clean money and dirty money.”
