Story
One day, the body of a middle-aged woman thought to have died from a hard blow to her head, is discovered. Hearing that there had been a cow’s hoof in a small talisman pouch among her personal belongings, Omiyasan remembers the case of an abandoned elementary school girl 25 years ago. At that time, the third grade girl had been left in the trunk of a disused car and she had also carried a cow’s hoof in a small talisman pouch. The girl’s divorced father, Tadashi, and Kumiko, the new person he married, were wanted for negligence. However, nothing was known of their whereabouts and 25 years have passed. Watase Tsunehiko as Torii Kanzaburo
The head of the Documentation Division of Kyoto’s Kamogawa Higashi Police Precinct who is nicknamed Omiyasan. He used to be an ace detective with the Kyoto Prefectural Police but is now buried in the Documentation Division, reading data on past cases. Because of his intuition and memory from the time he was a detective, Torii senses the connection in past and present unresolved cases, and solves cases through his own investigation.
Sakurai Atsuko as Nanao Yoko
Omiyasan’s only subordinate. Her dream is to become a detective. She was demoted to the Documentation Division after she hit a superior for sexual harassment. She is ridiculed by Omiyasan because she always jumps at conclusions.
Nanase Natsumi as Aizawa Keiko
A member of the crime lab at Kamogawa Higashi Police Precinct. The self-proclaimed beauty of the crime lab, she is in love with Omiyasan and goes in and out of the Documentation Division for information whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Fuwa Bansaku as Hyodo Heigo
A detective with the Criminal Affairs Division at Kamogawa Higashi Police Precinct. He gets along so well with Omiyasan that he can read his mind.
Hayashi Yasufumi as Yoshikawa Shinpei
A detective with the Criminal Affairs Division at Kamogawa Higashi Police Precinct. He has a sharp mind and typically sizes up situations in a level-headed manner.
Onodera Joe as Chino Taichi
A detective with the Criminal Affairs Division at Kamogawa Higashi Police Precinct. He is the buffer in the Criminal Affairs Division which tends to be cold and inhuman.
Katagiri Ryuji as Murai-kachou
The head of the Criminal Affairs Division at Kamogawa Higashi Police Precinct. A typical mid-level manager whose philosophy is to play it safe.
