2nd WOWOW Screenplay Grand Prix – Hebi no Hito

Synopsis: When Sanbe Yoko (Nagasaku Hiromi) comes to work in the morning, there is a big commotion at her company. It is said that department manager Ito (Kunimura Jun) committed suicide. Furthermore, even section manager, Imanishi Yukio (Nishijima Hidetoshi), has gone missing. Yoko first of all goes to help with the funeral, but all the department manager’s wife, Makiko (Ishino Mako), talks about is Imanishi for some reason. After the funeral, Yoko is summoned by the vice-president and hears that Imanishi is suspected of running away because of embezzlement and Ito had evidence of that. Did Imanishi murder Ito? While Yoko thinks that this cannot be true of such a good person, she gets orders from the company to search for Imanishi. So she goes to visit Imanishi’s friends. A woman (Fuse Eri) who married but divorced Imanishi’s abusive friend after being dumped by Imanishi. A couple (Katsumura Masanobu, Satsukawa Aimi) who bought an expensive apartment at Imanishi’s suggestion but are worn out servicing the loan. A friend (Kitamura Yukiya) who lives with his mistress and wife (Okunuki Kaoru) because of Imanishi’s intervention. Everyone has in some way become unhappy. The more Yoko visits and listens to the people who know Imanishi, the more confused she is about the kind of person he truly is. When she learns about his terrifying, sad and shocking past, she realises something and is shocked. Then, Yoko finally discovers Imanishi at an improbable location but … …
