Synopsis: Sumida Eichiro (Kunimura Jun), is the fifth generation owner of the Japanese lantern shop, Sumidaya. And Eichiro’s mother, Kouko, leads a leisurely life in an apartment nearby. Eichiro, who takes pride in his craftsmanship, dotes on his daughter who is the apple of his eye. However, Chiharu, who is tomboyish and fearlessly outspoken, quarrels with her old-fashioned father everyday. Then one day, Chiharu tells her father that she is getting married but Eichiro violently opposes, not wanting his daughter to be a bride. Then he starts wrestling with worry and distress everyday. Four cases of mutilation murders have occurred in these three months and they would like him to decipher the Sanskrit characters left at the crime scenes.
