Story
As a youth without a family, Takayama Ryosuke was picked up by the Oda-gumi led by Oda Taisei and raised as if he were his own son. At Oda’s bidding, Takayama achieved excellent results and became a police officer. He successfully advanced his career at Kanagawa Prefectural Police. Now an inspector, he has been leaking classified police information to Oda, but simply cannot get away from the circumstances he is in. Told by Oda to locate the mole within the Oda-gumi, Takayama accepts the assignment from Director Sugawara to look for the Oda-gumi spy within the police organisation. However, he has been treated frostily by his colleages ever since the death of Inspector Onodera. In the midst of this, a reluctant Takayama gets close to Suenaga Mari, the daughter of a powerful politician with influence in the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. This is on the orders of Oda who wants him to get intimate with Mari to protect the gang should it become necessary. The free spirited Mari, who believes in choosing her own life by herself, stirs feelings that Takayama has never felt before. Then Oda makes an even more cruel demand of Takayama. Deeply troubled by the duplicity of his roles, Takayama starts to doubt his way of life and soon wishes to break off his relationship with Oda. Looking at Takayama gives Mari the sense that he has a secret that no one can know. And so, she seeks the advice of the psychiatrist, Nishida Naoko. On the other hand, police officer Moriya Jun who has been an undercover operative in the Oda-gumi for a long time, has lost sight of the place he belongs to after the clash between the police and the Oda-gumi, and wanders about, not even getting in touch with Naoko with whom he has established an emotional bond. With Inspector Onodera and Hiroshi dead after the gun battle between the police and the Oda-gumi, he feels that the undercover investigation is on the rocks. No one knows knows his background and there is no other way for him to be reinstated unless he cooperates with the police to bust the Oda-gumi’s illicit drug trafficking activities. Moriya loses hope of returning. Then one day, he receives a phone call from Inspector Onodera’s mobile phone. Who could possibly be calling from the phone of a man who should be dead. Although he takes the call, he does not say anything, but the caller leaves a message in the same way that Inspector Onodera used to stay in touch with Moriya. When Moriya calls back, Takayama asks if he would like to join hands with him. Takayama, who has hit upon a plan to rid his life of “darkness”, thus becomes Moriya’s handler. Moriya successfully pushes the Oda-gumi to breakup, but makes a big discovery in a meeting with Takayama. It is Takayama who is the man that Moriya has been searching for … …! And so, a final battle, in which the significance of the existence and the lives of these two men with two faces hang in the balance, begins.
