Story
Konno Izumi is an unfortunate paragon of beauty, too beautiful to lead a happy life. All men who look at her fall in love at first sight, even if it is a fleeting encounter. Because they would desperately compel her to date them, she is not able to work or lead a normal life. When a depressed Izumi contemplated death, she was saved by Aoyama Jin, the popular oil painter and professor at the Tokyo Institute of Art, and fell in love with him. Then, she discovered that he has a wife, Yukiko, who goes by the name Yukko. Every day is spent being Jin’s mistress and modelling for his famous series of paintings, but Yukko will not forgive Izumi. She squanders the money from the sale of the paintings on shopping and does not give Izumi a single yen. The person who supports Izumi’s life as a patron is junior high school student Midorikawa Tsune, a student in Jin’s art class where Izumi models. Tsune is initially cold and even hostile towards Izumi but gradually warms to her. The daughter of the owner of a luxurious traditional Japanese restaurant in Mukojima, she is well-off financially, but because she views the world with a soberness unlike a junior high school student, she understands Izumi’s circumstances and helps her in many ways. To Izumi, Tsune is her only friend. The many costumes to hide Izumi’s beauty from the world and avoid trouble were all bought by Tsune too. One day, while Jin is in Italy for work, arts student Akamatsu Keisuke comes to the arts class as a temporary teacher. He will not get credits from Jin if he does not teach Tsune to draw. What he sees is Konaki Jiji (a ghost in Japanese folklore with the shape of a small old man and having a baby’s cry) in the classroom. Tsune tells a shocked Akamatsu that this is because of him. To stop Izumi from messing around in costume and wanting Tsune to draw, Akamatsu unthinkingly say, “I won’t fall for Izumi because I’m gay.” At that moment, Izumi meets a stalker again and flees into the night. However, she is not able to find a new address to move to and ends up renting a room in Akamatsu’s apartment … …
