Synopsis: Cafe owner Torii Shuji (Murakami Jun) possesses the special ability to “see a red bird on the heads of unfortunate people”. He is fearful of getting deeply involved with other people out of worry that he may make them miserable. Housewife Kogure Satomi (Mizuno Miki), whom Torii appears to have dated in the past, is powerless against the thorny problems stemming from her timid husband, Soichi (Katsura Kichiya). Satomi and her two children regard him as an unreliable father, and she wonders if her life is how it should be. Soichi, who runs a small printing firm, is given the job of taking care of the mistress (Inoue Waka) and dog of his married friend and client, Matsurida Masaru (Azuma Mikihisa), and cannot bring himself to say no to these unreasonable requests because Matsurida always gives him work. They get mixed together with the stubborn, work-obsessed Domoto Katsumi (Watabiki Katsuhiko) who hates things that are not right and cannot bow to others. He was a director at his company, but sadly, it collapsed during the recession. His wife has collapsed from illness. And so, he goes to work at a bento shop which is her workplace. However, trouble ensues because he is too serious and inflexible.
