Synopsis: Kitamura Shunpei (Kora Kengo) is a rookie rider in Obihiro’s draft horse racing (known in Japanese as ‘banei keiba’, or ‘banba’ for short) circuit. Today is an also ran (last or close to last place in a race) too. In fact, Shunpei has had only one victory since making his debut two and a half months ago. He trails his rival, Moriyama Yuto (Emoto Tasuku), who joined at the same time, by a wide margin and his impatience has been growing. The aptitude test to be a racehorse in draft horse racing, is a difficult hurdle that a horse gambles its life on. However, Shunpei cannot even get Toyo no Tobuki which he is riding, to pass, and incurs the wrath of its owner, the popular Hozumi Toyo (Akagi Harue). Shunpei considers giving up the life of a rider. But he is given a pep talk by Kurahashi Yuji (Terawaki Yasufumi), the current top rider. “You can live even if you quit as a rider, but a horse has nowhere else where it can live.” And encouragement from Yoshino Saki (Renbutsu Misako), the new person in charge of public relations who tries to work hard for the race horses as she stumbles along in her job, makes him decide to stay and live his life as a rider.
