I’m somewhat surprised Kusanagi has a comeback drama so soon. It’s as if the scandal never happened. It was a big deal wasn’t it? Korean fans worried their beloved BOF promotion would be affected because it was featured in SMAPxSMAP…. Rumours SMAP as a band would be endangered as a result. It was even featured in BBC’s website. I suppose they all underestimated the power of SMAP and Johnny ent. haha.. Gotta admit, I’m enticed by Orthros no Inu and Takky.

It’s all about the money. I read that it’s not that JE exercised its power in this case, but the sponsors and the production companies were begging to have Tsuyoshi return to work. Without Tsuyoshi, you won’t be able to use SMAP as a group to release a new single, to feature the whole group in the CMs, and etc. Also, Tsuyoshi has had several CMs, variety shows, drama, and a big budget movie. It will cost millions to those production companies if they were to throw all promotional materials and their original production/promotion plans away. The fans’ support also played an important role. There were more than 30,000 letters in support of Tsuyoshi were sent to the Jimusho, TV/Radio Stations, and the sponsors. The sponsors are afraid of the public backlash and possible boycott if they actually drop him, given that the general public sentiment seems to be sympathetic and forgiving.

Thanks for all the updates! :D

The Summer lineup seems a write off. The rumoured productions aren’t anymore encouraging as networks seem ready to give us an overdose of the tried and tested formulas of sequels and investigative dramas. But things have suddenly perked up with the announcement of Kanryoutachi no Natsu. And what a lineup of actors they have! Maybe there’s something to look forward to after all.

  4. 5 luthien

omg omg.. “Kareinaru Spy” writer is the same as Odoru Daisousasen? And Nagase again in a comedy? *hyperventilates* Can I hope it would rock? Summer looked bleak with only Kanryoutachi no Natsu, but I’d love a dose of comedy too! Thanks again for the update! :D

Can’t wait to see Kanryoutachi no Natsu, my fave actress Kazue Fukiishi is in it. BTW, she was in last year’s hot Uniqlo TV commercial
